The IAS Awards 2014 were held at a gala Luncheon for 430 guests at the Park Lane Hotel on Thursday September 25. Below shows the full results and included are extracts from the script presented by comedian and actor, Miles Jupp.

The judges were looking for a creative deal, which went beyond the ordinary. They were impressed by the foresight and vision which was required to put this transaction together including working with the significant constraints of the site.

There were 15 entries for this category and some outstanding candidates for the award.  The judges agreed that the winning transaction was a fantastic achievement with the deal providing the occupier what they wanted within tight timescales following a complicated site assembly.

The judges agreed that the winner exhibited great skill and guts to put themselves in a position to be able to execute this successful transaction. This resulted in a fantastic success for the winner.

DEAL OF THE YEAR Over 250,000 sq ft SPECIAL COMMENDATION

The judges awarded a Special Commendation to Prologis for Prologis RFI, DIRFT II, Daventry, due to the scale of the development and the complexity involved in the site assembly and the rail connection.

IDI Gazeley for Magna Park, Milton Keynes

Agents: Burbage Realty, JLL and Savills

The winner provided the perfect ingredients to win Best Overall Scheme, one of significance and stature and an impressive track record over the past 12 months which has continued to attract major occupiers. It focussed on giving the occupiers what they wanted whilst ensuring an excellent income producing asset.

Deloitte Real Estate, the acquiring agent for the King Portfolio, a £140m off market portfolio transaction across 46 industrial estates

This transaction was one of the largest deals executed in the past 12 months. The judges were impressed due to the geographical spread of the assets and the complex structure which enabled Deloitte Real Estate on behalf of M&G to complete this off market purchase.

BEST INVESTMENT TRANSACTION SPECIAL COMMENDATION

The judges awarded a Special Commendation to Delin Capital Asset Management for their determination to purchase the WAVE Portfolio portfolio of five assets in the Midlands and Yorkshire with an overall yield of over 7 per cent.

Tim Johnson

Known to everybody in the business as ‘Jumbo’, Tim Johnson, who retired in 2013 was head of the National Industrial and Logistics team at JLL, and formerly at King Sturge. A previous IAS Chairman, Tim has been one of the most well-known figureheads of the industrial sector over the past 25 years, and was instrumental in making King Sturge and ultimately JLL an industrial powerhouse.

The Awards was richly deserved by Tim and the IAS would like to thank him for all that he has done over his career, and wish him all the best for the future asks him to keep in touch.

 

The guests at the Awards also showed industry recognition to Philip Butler who retired on the day of the Awards luncheon after 28 years of service at Aviva Investors. Philip had been a popular figure in the market over that period and everybody in the ballroom hoped that he enjoys his well-earned retirement.
